Are EMF-free earbuds/headphones (or "air tubes") really necessary?
Some activists have been arguing for years that wired earbuds or headphones still represent a danger on an EMF standpoint. They argue that the high frequency microwave radiation emitted by a phone or laptop could technically go up the wire and emit important levels of microwave radiation near the head.
I consulted my close colleague and EMF mitigation specialist Brian Hoyer on the topic and he told me that his testing does NOT support such an idea. Wired earbuds or headphones are relatively safe and in my view, the "air tube" headsets sold everywhere at a premium price are 1) uncomfortable to my ears and 2) break down easily.
For electrosensitive individuals or people who absolutely want to do everything possible to reduce their EMF radiation exposure (including myself, of course), I recommend using this neat product called "H.A.R.D" (https://tidd.ly/3BuwPNh), which is a plug-in filter that you place between your laptop/phone and your headphones. It's cheaper than air tube headsets and essentially turns any set of headphones into air tubes.
